Activities Director Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Activities Director to develop and implement a wide range of engaging activities and programs for the residents of our senior living community. The Activities Director will work closely with our residents to promote socialization, independence, and well-being while ensuring that all activities are safe and enjoyable.
Activities Director’s Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement various engaging activities and programs for residents, including social, recreational, educational, and cultural activities.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to plan and execute events and outings.
- Promote resident involvement in activities and encourage socialization among residents.
- Keep detailed records of all activities and attendance for reporting purposes.
- Maintain a calendar of events and distribute schedules to residents, staff, and volunteers.
- Ensure that activities are safe and enjoyable for all residents, and make necessary adjustments to accommodate individual needs and preferences.
- Communicate regularly with residents and their families to solicit feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Manage department budget and purchase necessary equipment and supplies.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with activities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and resources to enhance programming opportunities.
Activities Director Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, recreation, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with seniors in a social, recreational, or therapeutic capacity.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to plan and execute engaging activities and events.
- Knowledge of the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of seniors.
- Experience working in a senior living community is preferred.
- Ability to manage department budget and purchase necessary equipment and supplies.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
